I'm not directly working on it yet in Ubuntu... I'm trying to sort out the upstream -> Debian issues first. In the meantime, I'm happy to see an Ubuntu version released!
One note about your latest debdiff (v3)... The alpha LDFLAGS issue in debian/rules shouldn't be a problem for us in Ubuntu, so that part of the debdiff can also probably be dropped.
