Picek, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. As per http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/555/product-support/product /inspiron-15r-5537/drivers an update to your computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available (A08). If you update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything?
If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of the following terminal command: sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette . Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't have to create a new bug report. Once the BIOS is updated, and the information above is provided, then please mark this report Status New. Thank you for your understanding. ** Tags added: bios-outdated-a07 ** Tags removed: bios-outdated-a07 ** Tags added: bios-outdated-a08 ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Low ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1342774 Title: xorg segfault on suspend/wake (not allways) Status in xorg package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: sometimes I face Xorg segfault on wake up from suspend/hibernation. I use this: http://askubuntu.com/a/387676/293492 workaraound and it works in 90% of cases. I also use radeon propertiary driver fglrx ( version 13.35.5). I may be wrong but I suspect that thos bug occurs when suspend is triggered by closing the laptop lid - when I use suspend button or pm-suspend command everything works fine. I`m using ubuntu 14.04, xorg version is 1:7.7+1ubuntu8 to reproduce: change power management close lid behaviour to "suspend" close lid open lid Xserver does not restore correctly (blank screen). you can change session to tty1-6 and log in. Killing xorg restores systems functionality. if no action is made bu user after about 30 seconds X server resets automatically rastoring systems functionality ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 14.04 Package: xorg 1:7.7+1ubuntu8 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.13.0-29.53-generic 3.13.11.2 Uname: Linux 3.13.0-29-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: fglrx .tmp.unity.support.test.0: ApportVersion: 2.14.1-0ubuntu3.2 Architecture: amd64 CompizPlugins: No value set for `/apps/compiz-1/general/screen0/options/active_plugins' CompositorRunning: None Date: Wed Jul 16 16:50:15 2014 DistUpgraded: 2014-06-13 21:03:32,211 DEBUG enabling apt cron job DistroCodename: trusty DistroVariant: ubuntu DkmsStatus: fglrx-updates, 13.350.1, 3.13.0-29-generic, x86_64: installed fglrx-updates, 13.350.1, 3.13.0-30-generic, x86_64: installed ExtraDebuggingInterest: Yes GraphicsCard: Intel Corporation Haswell-ULT Integrated Graphics Controller [8086:0a16] (rev 09) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) Subsystem: Dell Device [1028:05eb] Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.
