Default installation of saucy from USB media, after reboot, screen turns purple for five seconds, then black (backlight off). No logo is shown on purple background. Forums suggest that backlight control and kernel mode switching on this hardware do not work together well. Disabling kernel mode switch and removing "quiet" and "splash" options shows normal boot, but X refuses to start (Screens present but no usable configuration).
