Public bug reported: Some important functions in network-manager are grayed out: * "edit connections" * "connect" * "disconnect"
To resolve the problem: * When i start "nm-connection-editor" in terminal as normal user it's possible to edit all interfaces without any problems. * When i start "users-admin" in terminal as normal user, press button "advanced settings" and enter my password, then the functions "edit connections" + "connect" + "disconnect" are possible to operate and not grayed any more untile a reboot! I already set my user to user-group "netdev", but nothing happened. I tryed to "dpkg-reconfigure network-manager" and "/etc/init.d/network-manager restart", but nothing happened. ------------------------ "lsb_release -rd": Description: Ubuntu 12.04.5 LTS Release: 12.04 ------------------------ "apt-cache policy network-manager": network-manager: Installiert: 0.9.4.0-0ubuntu4.4.1 Kandidat: 0.9.4.0-0ubuntu4.4.1 Versionstabelle: *** 0.9.4.0-0ubuntu4.4.1 0 500 http://de.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ precise-updates/main i386 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 0.9.4.0-0ubuntu3 0 500 http://de.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ precise/main i386 Packages ------------------------ ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.04 Package: network-manager 0.9.4.0-0ubuntu4.4.1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.2.0-77.112-generic-pae 3.2.66 Uname: Linux 3.2.0-77-generic-pae i686 ApportVersion: 2.0.1-0ubuntu17.8 Architecture: i386 Date: Wed Mar 11 20:57:48 2015 InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS "Precise Pangolin" - Release i386 (20120817.3) IpRoute: default via 192.168.178.1 dev eth0 proto static 169.254.0.0/16 dev eth0 scope link metric 1000 192.168.178.0/24 dev eth0 proto kernel scope link src 192.168.178.92 metric 1 MarkForUpload: True NetworkManager.state: [main] NetworkingEnabled=true WirelessEnabled=true WWANEnabled=true WimaxEnabled=true ProcEnviron: LANGUAGE=de_DE:en TERM=xterm PATH=(custom, no user) LANG=de_DE.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash RfKill: 0: phy0: Wireless LAN Soft blocked: no Hard blocked: yes SourcePackage: network-manager UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) mtime.conffile..etc.NetworkManager.NetworkManager.conf: 2012-11-18T15:36:47 nmcli-dev: DEVICE TYPE STATE DBUS-PATH eth0 802-3-ethernet connected /org/freedesktop/NetworkManager/Devices/1 wlan0 802-11-wireless unavailable /org/freedesktop/NetworkManager/Devices/0 nmcli-nm: RUNNING VERSION STATE NET-ENABLED WIFI-HARDWARE WIFI WWAN-HARDWARE WWAN running 0.9.4.0 connected enabled disabled disabled enabled disabled ** Affects: network-manager (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apport-bug i386 precise ** Attachment added: "Print-Screen" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1431012/+attachment/4341839/+files/nm-applet_printscreen_01.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to network-manager in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1431012 Title: network-manager, "edit connections" + "connect" + "disconnect" functions are disabled Status in network-manager package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: Some important functions in network-manager are grayed out: * "edit connections" * "connect" * "disconnect" To resolve the problem: * When i start "nm-connection-editor" in terminal as normal user it's possible to edit all interfaces without any problems. * When i start "users-admin" in terminal as normal user, press button "advanced settings" and enter my password, then the functions "edit connections" + "connect" + "disconnect" are possible to operate and not grayed any more untile a reboot!
