This problems exists since months and is still present in 14.10. For me, it only happens when I use the onboard USB (2.0 or 3.0) of my mainboard. With an older USB 2.0 PCI card the scanner still works with sane.
And I can also use the scanner with the onboard USB controller, when I start Windows XP in VirtualBox , which uses an older USB 2.0 protocol. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to sane-backends in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1422132 Title: Canoscan LIDE 20 (plustek backend) not working anymore Status in sane-backends package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: I don't know when it happened, but through some upgrade my scanner has lost function here. There is no movement inside, it only scans a black image. Sometimes, rarely I can scan one, but only one image, but directly afterwards it gives up again. It does not depend on the pc, because I see the same result on three different laptops but all with actual Ubuntu 14.04. Using a live version of 14.04.1 from July 2014 everything works fine. lsb_release -rd Description: Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS apt-cache policy sane *** 1.0.14-9 0 ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 14.04 Package: sane 1.0.14-9 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.13.0-45.74-lowlatency 3.13.11-ckt13 Uname: Linux 3.13.0-45-lowlatency x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.14.1-0ubuntu3.6 Architecture: amd64 CurrentDesktop: XFCE Date: Sun Feb 15 17:09:39 2015 InstallationDate: Installed on 2014-07-27 (202 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu-Studio 14.04.1 LTS "Trusty Tahr" - Release amd64 (20140722.1) SourcePackage: sane-frontends UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/sane-backends/+bug/1422132/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages Post to : desktop-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
