What's the actual problem with mysql? We only depend on mysql-server-
core, which is only the core data files, not the actual system service.
So if you use a different akonadi backend you won't have a running mysql
server, just the files lying around.

Title:
  Akonadi depends on mysql

Status in akonadi package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
I'm using Kubuntu 14.04.2 and I am having trouble removing the MySQL
package because akonadi-server depends on akonadi-backend-mysql, so
when I remove that package the entire KDE goes away.

I can't just change akonadi to use SQLite because I still can't remove
the akonadi-backend-mysql. Isn't there a way to allow removing mysql-
server without removing akonadi, or remove akonadi without removing
  the entire KDE?

  Thanks.
