@yofel

This dependency does not allow me to install another MySQL, such as the
MySQL from the official APT repository
(http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/repo/apt/). Just adding the repo and
installing the mysql-community-server removes the entire KDE.

Title:
  Akonadi depends on mysql

Status in akonadi package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  I'm using Kubuntu 14.04.2 and I am having trouble removing the MySQL
  package because akonadi-server depends on akonadi-backend-mysql, so
  when I remove that package the entire KDE goes away.

  I can't just change akonadi to use SQLite because I still can't remove
  the akonadi-backend-mysql. Isn't there a way to allow removing mysql-
  server without removing akonadi, or remove akonadi without removing
  the entire KDE?

  Thanks.
