If i boot the machine with a single monitor (boots fine), log in and everything (so all USB peripherals are connected already), the X server crashes. Ditto if I try to boot with multiple monitors already connected (before X comes on, all three monitors have the same image, namely, either the bios screen or the linux boot messages).
Even after the Xorg server crashes, I can still use Ctrl-Alt-F1 to go to a vty. If this is not enough information, tomorrow I can try to repeat the crash and attach the output of pstree.
