my workaround on vivid: download 2.6.2-3
https://packages.debian.org/sid/amd64/banshee/download completely deinstall 2.9.*** banshee via synaptic. Doubleclick downloaded 2.6.2-3 and install with Softwarecenter. Everything works as it should.
