They point release media installs a backport of the graphics stack from
newer releases so they work on newer devices
(https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server-lts-vivid being used
in 14.04.3), to go back to the 14.04.1 version just install xserver-
xorg-lts-trusty or use 14.04.1 install media. It's safe to update after
using the 14.04.1 media as it wont automatically upgrade the graphics
stack.

Title:
Version of xorg reported on lauchpad does not match wath is installed
  with 14.04.03 LTS

Status in xorg-server package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
Unless, I miss understand information available at
       https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server
xorg should be in the 1.15.1 serie for The Trusty Tahr.

However on a brand new installation of 14.04.03, it is reported to be
  1.17.1

This is an issue for us because for some reason we have to run Ubuntu
on a 4.3.8 VirtualBox VM and this version supports Xorg up to 1.15

Do I miss understand lauchpad? Is it not up-to-date? Is there a way to
install 1.15.1 afterwards?

  thanks in advance
