-- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to lightdm in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/880359 Title: Fresh install ubuntu ocelot (11.10) hangs on booting on dell XPS m1530 Status in “lightdm” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: I installed ubuntu oneiric ocelot from scratch (the option in the installer to replace the current ubuntu version.) Installing went fine (no problems reported.) But the system never totally booted after installing it. After some seconds, the (empty) purple screen appairs, and thereafter a text screen with some lines (I will attach a screen shot), and then nothing happens. I can only reboot from there using ctrl-alt-delete. By using the the safe mode to boot, I was able to reach the command line. I used apt-get to do the available upgrades. That made no difference to the above. Does anyone else experience this? Does anyone know the solution?
