Title:
causes freeze in hardy when system sounds are activated

Status in esound package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
When esound is installed and system sounds are activated, the module
libesd-alsa0 causes a freeze of the gnome desktop. This freeze
appears, when you boot ubuntu and do an action in gnome (like right-
click with the mouse, click in the gnome menu or so on). When libesd
(not the -alsa0) from the multiverse is installed, the system sounds
works and no freeze appears. But then multimedia programs like totem,
me-tv... find no audio driver. This bug was tested with several
kernels and several sound configurations (alsa as default, pulseaudio
  as default ...)
