Public bug reported: I'm responsible for several Machines with Ubuntu 14.04. The Users do not have the permission to shutdown/reboot if other users are logged in (ssh sessions included). I'm using policys for org.freedesktop.login1.reboot-multiple-sessions;org.freedesktop.login1.power-off-multiple-sessions;org.freedesktop.login1.suspend-multiple-sessions;org.freedesktop.login1.hibernate-multiple-sessions
This is working fine, but the users get no notification about the situation: 1) If the user is logged in, he can click on shutdown but he gets just the option to log out. This is nice, but not perfect, a message about the reason would be good. 2) If the user is not logged in, he can click on shutdown but he gets no options. Just a small window with "Are you sure you want to shut down the computer?". There are no buttons and it's looking like a bug. The 2nd case is really bad for me. Typical situation: one user is working remote on the computer, then a windows user comes into the laboratory. The computer seems on but free and the windows user wants to reboot to boot windows. Some windows users find a hard way to reboot! ** Affects: lightdm (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to lightdm in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1519352 Title: notification about missing shutdown/reboot permission Status in lightdm package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: I'm responsible for several Machines with Ubuntu 14.04.
