Ok, sorry.  From http://mate-desktop.com/, it seems that atril is a fork of 
evince.  
I had thought it was merely a rename to avoid MATE/GNOME conflicts.

So I understand better: are you saying that evince doesn't have this bug?
And that improvements made to evince will not necessarily show up in atril?

  extra toolbar buttons don't show in Fullscreen mode

Bug description:
  I used the Edit / Toolbar command to add some buttons to the toolbar.
  These ordinarily show up, but not in Fullscreen mode.

  Version info:
  LInux Mint 17.1, MATE edition, based on Ubuntu 14.04.  
  In MATE, evince is renamed to atril: MATE Document Viewer 1.8.1.
