Ok, with thanks to lotuspsychje who did some testing it seems the issue is triggered with switching of the "show the menu for one window" setting in systemsettings->appearance -> theme behaviour.
switching it one time triggers "something" that makes the windowsbuttons go to the right side no matter what setting is used afterwards. on a clean install, it is all fine. then one time switching this setting makes them go to the right forever. even on ambiance theme. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gedit in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1545556 Title: ubuntu 16.04: window buttons of gedit are placed on the right side Status in gedit package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: ubuntu 16.04 alpha: gedit 3.18 now has its toolbar placed in the window titlebar. because of that the window buttons are placed on the right again. this is inconsistent to all other windows (i just realized it because i moved the curser to the left upper edge to close gedit and didnt find the windowbuttons) ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 16.04 Package: gedit 3.18.3-0ubuntu1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.4.0-4.19-generic 4.4.1 Uname: Linux 4.4.0-4-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.19.4-0ubuntu2 Architecture: amd64 CurrentDesktop: Unity Date: Mon Feb 15 03:58:13 2016 InstallationDate: Installed on 2013-09-28 (869 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 13.10 "Saucy Salamander" - Beta amd64 (20130925.1) SourcePackage: gedit UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to xenial on 2016-02-11 (4 days ago) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gedit/+bug/1545556/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages Post to : desktop-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
