I had this problem too. Try grabbing and enlarging (i.e., click-drag)
the Sheets tab at the lower left-hand corner of the spreadsheet. After
I enlarged this tab, the row labels became visible again.

Title:
Column and Row Labels Missing in XLSX

Status in “libreoffice” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
When a Microsoft Office Excel 2007 spreadsheet (XLSX) is opened in
LibreOffice Calc 3.4.3, neither the row nor column labels (headers) are
displayed. They do appear intermittently, if for instance, you move the focus
from row to row.
