I don't think it's worth it. 16.04 will be an LTS release and 15.10 support ends in summer so all 15.10 users are very much recommended to upgrade to 16.04 anyway.

For instance on my system I can either set it to "none", "IBus", or "fcitx". However there is no such option in the gnome-control-center's Region & Language section, though I think that there should be.
