Title:
command option to start RB playing

Status in The Rhythmbox Music Management Application:
  Confirmed
Status in “rhythmbox” package in Ubuntu:
  Triaged

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: rhythmbox

It seems that a command option to open Rhythmbox and start playing
right away is lacking. There is rhythmbox-client --play but that will
only make an already existing RB play, NOT open a new one.

I can think of several situations where it would be useful. The Alarm
  Clock Applet (http://joh.deworks.net/blog/?page_id=58), for example,
acts as a wake up alarm and offers the possibility to launch a
specific app for that purpose. It can launch RB, but it cannot make it
start playing so it becomes useless to wake anyone up.
