Public bug reported: I edit a filesystem label for a USB disk with the following values:

It seems when an underscore is used with more than three characters it starts to pad it out with some string. entered, actual and expected: TEST entered, actual and expected: TEST_1 entered, actual and expected: TEST_A entered, actual and expected: TEST_AB entered: TEST_ABC actual: TEST_ABC nA entered: TEST_ABCDE actual: TEST_ABCDEA This was a W95 FAT32 (LBA) (0x0c) partition type, bootable flags ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 11.10 Package: gnome-disk-utility 3.0.2-1ubuntu2 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.0.0-12.20-generic 3.0.4 Uname: Linux 3.0.0-12-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: wl ApportVersion: 1.23-0ubuntu3 Architecture: amd64 Date: Tue Nov 1 22:31:49 2011 ExecutablePath: /usr/bin/palimpsest ProcEnviron: PATH=(custom, no user) LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: gnome-disk-utility UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) ** Affects: gnome-disk-utility (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug apport-lpi oneiric running-unity -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-disk-utility in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/885042 Title: edit filesystem label appends characters "nA" when underscores are used Status in “gnome-disk-utility” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: I edit a filesystem label for a USB disk with the following values: entered: TEST_TEST actual: TEST_TESTnA expected: TEST_TEST or an error saying why it's adding extra characters or what the rules or recommendations are for filesystem labels.
