Title:
permissions on usb device for scanner too restrictive

Status in sane-backends package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
When I try to use xsane as the logged in user, I can select my scanner
but when I try to scan I get a I/O Error. If I simply use sudo to run
  xsane it works perfectly.

If I use sudo to change the permissions of /proc/bus/usb/002/002 to
666 it works as a regular user.
