  No desktop when installed with gforce gtx 750 ti

Bug description:
  I installed nvidia-353 in a desktop using a gforce gtx 750 ti on
  14.04.5

  After reboot, lightdm shows up with very low resolution.

  When I enter my password, desktop does not show and lightdm shows
  again.
