Title:
  Transmitter (irsend) broken in 10.10

Status in linux-lts-utopic package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: lirc

  Hello,

I'm using lirc not only for IR control of my applications, but also to
control external hardware: the lirc 'transmitter' functionality sends
information to the 'VDR extension board'. Depending on the sent
information, the 'VDR extension board' is controlled. For example,
LEDs are swithed on or off.

This works with module lirc_serial. The transmitter must be enabled during
compilation of the module.
It works with 10.04 . For that, /etc/modprobe.d/lirc_serial.conf is:

  options lirc_serial type=0
  options lirc_serial io=0x3F8
  options lirc_serial irq=4
  options lirc_serial softcarrier=0

It is broken in 10.10. Same configuration files as in 10.04. Log entries are
also the same, no errors in the logs.
  Still,

  irsend send_once EXTB_TX B_LD5

lets the LED blink in 10.04, and nothing happens in 10.10.

Note: irw (recieving RC signals) works fine in both, 10.10 and 10.04.

  Regards, Markus
