Title:
nm-applet times out before long WPA key could be entered

Status in network-manager-applet package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
After selecting a wireless network to connect to, the dialog box for
entering the WPA2 shared key (password) shows up (title in german:
  "Legitimierung für Funknetzwerk wird benötigt").

When I enter a long password some timeout seems to occur in the
background before entering the password is finished. At the beginning
the icon in the menu bar is waving, but then the overlay message in
german "Verbindung getrennt. - Sie sind nun offline" (Disconnect - You
are no offline) is displayed and the icon stops waving (empty quarter
of a circle is shown). Finishing the password and clicking the button
"Verbinden" (Connect) seems to have no effect. The connection is not
  established.

If the same password is copied to clipboard and inserted at the
beginning when the dialog box appears, the connection is established
  successfully.

The success of the connection should not depend on the duration of
  entering the password.
