Title:
Audio source setting is changed upon login

Status in pulseaudio package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
I have an Ubuntu 12.04 installation, and the screenshot attached shows
the audio output devices I have available.

Here are the steps to reproduce the bug (it happens every time):

  1) Log into my account. Make sure the headset is connected.

  2) Go to Sound Settings. Choose the one with headset icon as the audio
output. Listen to a song using your media player of choice.

  3) Using the audio slider in the top right, I can increase/decrease
  the volume properly.

  4) Pause the song.

  5) Lock the account (or hibernate the machine).

  6) Log back in.

  What should happen:

  a) The sound should still play from the headset.

  b) The volume slider should still work properly.

  c) If you go to the Sound Settings, you should see the one with
headset icon selected (just like screenshot).

  What actually happens:

  a) The sound DOES play from the headset.

  b) However, the volume slider doesn't increase/decrease the volume.

  c) Also, when I go to Sound Settings, I see the built-in audio called
  HEADPHONES is selected.

Somehow the sound output device gets changed in the setting (BAD), but
I still hear the sounds out of the previously selected device (GOOD).
