Public bug reported: This bug happens in the following scenario:
The machine is on with the screen awake, logged in, with headphones plugged in the volume is set to X%. Upon un-plugging the headphones the actual volume changes to Y% where Y is the last value that the volume was at prior to the headphones being plugged in, however at the moment of unplugging the headphones the volume slider appears in the top right corner displaying X% (when the volume at this moment has changed X -> Y. This bug also happens in the opposite scenario. For example the volume is at X% with no headphones plugged in, upon plugging headphones in the slider appears and displays X% but the actual volume has once again changed from X -> Y where Y is the last value the volume was at when headphones were plugged in. ~$ lsb_release -rd Description: Ubuntu 16.04.2 LTS Release: 16.04 ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 16.04 Package: alsa-base 1.0.25+dfsg-0ubuntu5 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.4.0-77.98-generic 4.4.59 Uname: Linux 4.4.0-77-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia_uvm nvidia_drm nvidia_modeset nvidia ApportVersion: 2.20.1-0ubuntu2.5 Architecture: amd64 AudioDevicesInUse: USER PID ACCESS COMMAND /dev/snd/controlC0: thomas 2223 F.... pulseaudio /dev/snd/pcmC1D0p: thomas 2223 F...m pulseaudio /dev/snd/controlC1: thomas 2223 F.... pulseaudio CurrentDesktop: Unity Date: Sun May 14 13:48:42 2017 InstallationDate: Installed on 2016-06-21 (327 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 16.04 LTS "Xenial Xerus" - Release amd64 (20160420.1) PackageArchitecture: all SourcePackage: alsa-driver Symptom: audio Symptom_Card: Built-in Audio - HDA Intel PCH Symptom_Jack: Black Headphone Out, Rear Symptom_Type: Volume slider, or mixer problems Title: [GS60 2PE Ghost Pro, Realtek ALC892, Black Headphone Out, Rear] volume slider problem UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) dmi.bios.date: 05/05/2015 dmi.bios.vendor: American Megatrends Inc. dmi.bios.version: E16H2IMS.112 dmi.board.asset.tag: To be filled by O.E.M. dmi.board.name: MS-16H2 dmi.board.vendor: Micro-Star International Co., Ltd. dmi.board.version: REV:0.B dmi.chassis.asset.tag: To Be Filled By O.E.M. dmi.chassis.type: 10 dmi.chassis.vendor: To Be Filled By O.E.M. dmi.chassis.version: To Be Filled By O.E.M. dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnAmericanMegatrendsInc.:bvrE16H2IMS.112:bd05/05/2015:svnMicro-StarInternationalCo.,Ltd.:pnGS602PEGhostPro:pvrREV1.0:rvnMicro-StarInternationalCo.,Ltd.:rnMS-16H2:rvrREV0.B:cvnToBeFilledByO.E.M.:ct10:cvrToBeFilledByO.E.M.: dmi.product.name: GS60 2PE Ghost Pro dmi.product.version: REV:1.0 dmi.sys.vendor: Micro-Star International Co., Ltd. ** Affects: alsa-driver (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug xenial -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to alsa-driver in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1690636 Title: Volume Slider Displays Incorrect Value Status in alsa-driver package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: This bug happens in the following scenario: The machine is on with the screen awake, logged in, with headphones plugged in the volume is set to X%.
