** Changed in: gnome-shell (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Expired -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-shell in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1709597 Title: gnome-shell spins at 100% CPU, system is unusable Status in gnome-shell package in Ubuntu: Expired Bug description: gnome-shell randomly enters an infinite loop, at which point the entire screen stops redrawing except for the mouse cursor. (The mouse cursor still changes correctly for the foreground application when moving between e.g. text fields and buttons.) The only way to recover is to kill the gnome-shell, which may or may not destroy the session and all running GUI applications. We really need to get this fixed if we are to ship Gnome as the standard GUI in 18.04.
