Staggering that this problem persists. I'm still running Ubuntu 14.04 [LTS!!]. Seems to re-emerge for me with updates [as of yesterday]. Just posting this in case there's a developer out there still monitoring this bug. I expect to be told to move up from 14.04 ....... but then what's the point of opting for LTSs?
