Other files like music, plain text documents and photos can be accessed normally. I do not have the same problem in e.g the Virtual Machines Peppermint 8 or Linux Mint 18.3 with LibreOffice release 5.1.6.2. Nor in the VM Xubuntu 17.10 and MX17 Linux with LibreOffice release 6.0.1.1.
