It seems Unity is not affected. I took some time to respond because I could not reproduce the bug yesterday after rebooting the machine. It seems something triggers the bug, and once it has been triggered I can consistently reproduce it with pm-suspend, even after logging out and back in (this in itself makes the issue disappear, but suspending makes it appear again).
So now that it occurred again, I logged several times into Unity and Gnome Shell (xorg), and executing pm-suspend always made the problem appear in Gnome Shell, and never did in Unity. I still do not know what triggers the bug in the first place, but it seems to occur usually when I go from work to home or vice versa, which implies suspending, closing the lid, unplugging the AC adapter, external monitor and USB hub. For what it's worth, the problem occurs with my USB mouse and with my Bluetooth mouse. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-shell in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1752709 Title: Left mouse button gets stuck down (in software), usually after suspend/resume Status in gnome-shell package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Status in libinput package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Status in mutter package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: Sometimes the left mouse button stops working. The right button, the movements, and the keyboard all still work normally. The laptop's touch screen also still works. The left mouse button doesn't work anywhere, neither in the application nor in the shell widgets. Unplugging/plugging the (usb) mouse has no effect. Logging out and back in does temporarily solve the problem. It usually occurs after resuming from suspend, but it once did occur shortly after plugging in an usb pendrive (this might be a coincidence of course). This is with Gnome Shell on Wayland, on 18.04. This report is similar to bug 1743183, except in that bug it seems the left mouse button never works in Wayland. In my case, it usually works, but stops working after a while.
