New information: I've been using my ubuntu installation for several days since I posted my last comment, and had not encountered the bug until I used the `Super + FN + Up Arrow`/`Super + FN + Down Arrow` to change workspaces. As soon as I did that, the bug returned. Will attempt to re-create and report back again.

Unfortunately I cannot provide any debug or other information, as I have to reboot everytime. I am running Ubuntu 9.04 with compiz enabled.
