Given that Hello has been removed from Firefox, this bug can probably be closed.
I'm not sure what is the preferred changed status in such a case, or I'd do it myself — "invalid"? "fix released"? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to firefox in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1498976 Title: instant messaging in firefox hello is dysfunctional Status in firefox package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: In firefox 41.0, running with a fresh profile, (both on 12.04 and 15.04), the instant messaging in "hello" in firefox does not seem to be working properly. The video and audio connections work correctly, but the instant messaging is one-sided. The receiver of the call (who can be using any webrtc-compatible browser) can send messages and view the sent and received messages, but the initiator of the call (who has to be using firefox) can only send messages, without being able to see the message history (including none of the messages sent by the other person). In addition, when the initiator sends their messages, by pressing enter, they don't disappear, as in any normal messaging program, but persist in the entry field (however, they are received by the other side.) With firefox 41.0 directly downloaded from Mozilla's website, the instant messaging works correctly (both sides can send messages and view the message history). (Note for ease of testing, in case it's helpful: One can connect to (i.e. open the conversation link in) the same instance of firefox, on the same computer, but in a new tab. Obviously I had detected the above bug also when connecting to another computer.) 41.0+build3-0ubuntu0.15.04.1 ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 15.04 Package: firefox 41.0+build3-0ubuntu0.15.04.1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.19.0-28.30-generic 3.19.8-ckt5 Uname: Linux 3.19.0-28-generic x86_64 AddonCompatCheckDisabled: False ApportVersion: 2.17.2-0ubuntu1.4 Architecture: amd64 AudioDevicesInUse: USER PID ACCESS COMMAND /dev/snd/controlC0: adam 1621 F.... pulseaudio BuildID: 20150918100231 Channel: Unavailable CurrentDesktop: Unity Date: Wed Sep 23 16:28:10 2015 DefaultProfileExtensions: extensions.sqlite corrupt or missing DefaultProfileIncompatibleExtensions: Unavailable (corrupt or non-existant compatibility.ini or extensions.sqlite) DefaultProfileLocales: extensions.sqlite corrupt or missing DefaultProfilePlugins: Gnome Shell Integration - /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/libgnome-shell-browser-plugin.so (gnome-shell) iTunes Application Detector - /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/librhythmbox-itms-detection-plugin.so (rhythmbox-mozilla) Shockwave Flash - /usr/lib/flashplugin-installer/libflashplayer.so DefaultProfilePrefSources: prefs.js DefaultProfileThemes: extensions.sqlite corrupt or missing ForcedLayersAccel: False IfupdownConfig: # interfaces(5) file used by ifup(8) and ifdown(8) auto lo iface lo inet loopback InstallationDate: Installed on 2015-05-16 (130 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 15.04 "Vivid Vervet" - Release amd64 (20150422) IpRoute: default via 192.168.0.1 dev wlan0 proto static metric 1024 169.254.0.0/16 dev wlan0 scope link metric 1000 192.168.0.0/24 dev wlan0 proto kernel scope link src 192.168.0.13 Profile0Extensions: extensions.sqlite corrupt or missing Profile0IncompatibleExtensions: Unavailable (corrupt or non-existant compatibility.ini or extensions.sqlite) Profile0Locales: extensions.sqlite corrupt or missing Profile0Plugins: Gnome Shell Integration - /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/libgnome-shell-browser-plugin.so (gnome-shell) iTunes Application Detector - /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/librhythmbox-itms-detection-plugin.so (rhythmbox-mozilla) Shockwave Flash - /usr/lib/flashplugin-installer/libflashplayer.so Profile0PrefSources: prefs.js Profile0Themes: extensions.sqlite corrupt or missing Profiles: Profile0 - LastVersion=41.0/20150918100231 Profile1 (Default) - LastVersion=41.0/20150918100231 RelatedPackageVersions: gnome-shell 3.14.4-0ubuntu1 rhythmbox-mozilla 3.1-1ubuntu3 RfKill: 0: phy0: Wireless LAN Soft blocked: no Hard blocked: no RunningIncompatibleAddons: False SourcePackage: firefox UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) dmi.bios.date: 02/03/2009 dmi.bios.vendor: Intel Corp. dmi.bios.version: ECG3510M.86A.0112.2009.0203.1136 dmi.board.asset.tag: Base Board Asset Tag dmi.board.name: DG35EC dmi.board.vendor: Intel Corporation dmi.board.version: AAE29266-210 dmi.chassis.type: 3 dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnIntelCorp.:bvrECG3510M.86A.0112.2009.0203.1136:bd02/03/2009:svn:pn:pvr:rvnIntelCorporation:rnDG35EC:rvrAAE29266-210:cvn:ct3:cvr: To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox/+bug/1498976/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages Post to : desktop-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
