It is not a duplicate of bug 1537606. The problem I reported is that the icons disappear on the desktop when they are placed at the right side of the desktop and the icon size is increased. I don't see the correlation of the icon size of nautilus and the desktop as a problem, the problem is that the icons disappear! That bug first appeared with the introduction of the Gnome shell in 17.10.
** This bug is no longer a duplicate of bug 1537606 Changing icon sizes causes desktop icon sizes to change too -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1748611 Title: Desktop symbols disappear after changing symbol size in nautilus Status in nautilus package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: Problem: When changing the size of folder symbols in the nautilus file browser, the symbol size for desktop symbols is also changed. That might result in the (temporary) disappearing of desktop symbols. How to reproduce the bug: Place some symbols on the right edge of the desktop. Open nautilus, increase the size of symbols. The symbol size for the desktop and the symbol grid size are also affected by that change, symbols placed at the edge will disappear. What I expect to happen: Changing the symbol size in nautilus should not affect the desktop symbol size/symbol grid size. What actually happens: Changing the symbol size in nautilus will change the desktop symbol size/ grid size, symbols on the desktop might disappear.
