Hello Nikolaus,
Thank you for submitting this bug and reporting a problem with Thunderbird.

You made this bug report in 2010 and there have been several versions of
Ubuntu and Thunderbird since then.

Could you confirm that this is no longer a problem and that we can close the
ticket?
Or, if it is still a problem, could you run the following (only once):
apport-collect 683143

and upload the updated logs and and any other logs that are relevant for
this particular issue.

Thank you again for helping make Ubuntu and Thunderbird better.

Title:
Replys are HTML for plain text mails and vice versa

Status in thunderbird package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: thunderbird

When I am clicking the "Reply" or "Reply List" button for a plain text
mail, the compose window opens in HTML mode. When I am doing the same
for an HTML mail, the compose window opens in plain text mode. I
strongly believe it should be the other way around.

Holding Shift while clicking on Reply creates the reply in the correct
  mode.
