time ago and there have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time.
Your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates.

It would help us a lot if you could test on a currently supported Ubuntu
version. When you test it and it is still an issue, kindly upload the
updated logs by running only once in a terminal:

apport-collect 714295

and add any additional information that you think relevant.
Alternatively, please confirm that this is no longer a problem and that
we can close the report. If we do not hear from you the bug report will
close itself in approximately two months time.

  firefox 3.6.13 will not export bookmarks

Status in firefox package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: firefox

  RELEASE:  Lucid Lynx
  CD/DVD VARIANT:  32bit Xubuntu installed when Xubuntu 10.04 was released

  SYMPTOMS:
  In attempting to export bookmarks as HTML, after completing the export, the 
bookmark does not exist in the directory exported to.

  STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

  1.  Start firefox in Xubuntu 10.04, fully up-to-date
  2.  Go to Bookmarks -> Organize Bookmarks -> Import and Backup -> Export 
HTML...
  3.  Give the file to be exported a name, if desired.
  4.  click on "Save"
  5.  Observe the file appears to be saved, but does not exist on your hard 
drive.
  6.  Tools -> Error Console give the following:
  Error: uncaught exception: [Exception... "Component returned failure code: 
0x80040111 (NS_ERROR_NOT_AVAILABLE) 
[nsIPlacesImportExportService.exportHTMLToFile]"  nsresult: "0x80040111

  7. There are no visible error messges or indications that the save did
  fail.

  This is reproducable at any time with firefox in Xubuntu 10.04
