According to Carlos Soriano from the Nautilus team this was broken be
the Ubuntu patches.

When can we expect a fix?

Thank you!

Title:
Preference 'recursive-search' is ignored when set to 'never'

Status in nautilus package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  Steps to reproduce:
  ---
  1. Run
  gsettings set org.gnome.nautilus.preferences recursive-search 'never'

  2. Restart Nautilus

  3. Search within Nautilus

  Current behavior
  ---
Even after setting recursive-search to 'never' the search is still executed
recursive.

  Expected behavior
  ---
After setting recursive-search to 'never' the search should be not recursive
anymore (only the current folder should be searched).

  Reproducible in:
  ---
  Ubuntu 18.04 with Nautilus 3.26.3-0ubuntu4

  Releated upstream bugs:
