Thanks for getting back on this so fast. I followed the proposed steps: 1. `ubuntu-bug _usr_lib_xorg_Xorg.1000.crash` reported the bug, but closed silently. I did not get a new bug ID. Where can I find it?
2. On that page I can find crashes from 2017, but none from after the upgrade to Ubuntu 18.04. 3. I followed the steps and was able to use `sudo apport-cli -c _usr_lib_xorg_Xorg.1000.crash` to upload the crash as a bug here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/1788796 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1788598 Title: Xorg crash Status in xorg-server package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: The bug was already in the previous edition of Ubuntu (17.10) using awesome window manager. After upgrading to Ubuntu 18.04 and switched to xmonad the problem still occurs. It seems currently that the crash occurs randomly. Sometimes not at all for a day, sometimes after only a few minutes three times in a row. $ lsb_release -rd Description: Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS Release: 18.04 $ apt-cache policy xorg xorg: Installed: 1:7.7+19ubuntu7.1 Candidate: 1:7.7+19ubuntu7.1 Version table: *** 1:7.7+19ubuntu7.1 500 500 http://de.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu bionic-updates/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 1:7.7+19ubuntu7 500 500 http://de.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu bionic/main amd64 Packages ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 18.04 Package: xorg 1:7.7+19ubuntu7.1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.15.0-32.35-generic 4.15.18 Uname: Linux 4.15.0-32-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: openafs .tmp.unity_support_test.0: ApportVersion: 2.20.9-0ubuntu7.2 Architecture: amd64 CompositorRunning: None Date: Thu Aug 23 13:11:40 2018 DistUpgraded: 2018-07-06 15:34:21,080 DEBUG Running PostInstallScript: './xorg_fix_proprietary.py' DistroCodename: bionic DistroVariant: ubuntu DkmsStatus: openafs, 1.8.0pre5, 4.15.0-30-generic, x86_64: installed openafs, 1.8.0pre5, 4.15.0-32-generic, x86_64: installed ExtraDebuggingInterest: Yes GraphicsCard: Intel Corporation HD Graphics 620 [8086:5916] (rev 02) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) Subsystem: Lenovo HD Graphics 620 (ThinkPad X1 Carbon 5th Gen) [17aa:224f] InstallationDate: Installed on 2017-10-10 (316 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 17.04 "Zesty Zapus" - Release amd64 (20170412) MachineType: LENOVO 20HR002RGE ProcKernelCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/vmlinuz-4.15.0-32-generic root=/dev/mapper/ubuntu--vg-root ro quiet splash vt.handoff=1 SourcePackage: xorg Symptom: display Title: Xorg crash UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to bionic on 2018-07-06 (47 days ago) dmi.bios.date: 05/17/2017 dmi.bios.vendor: LENOVO dmi.bios.version: N1MET35W (1.20 ) dmi.board.asset.tag: Not Available dmi.board.name: 20HR002RGE dmi.board.vendor: LENOVO dmi.board.version: SDK0J40697 WIN dmi.chassis.asset.tag: No Asset Information dmi.chassis.type: 10 dmi.chassis.vendor: LENOVO dmi.chassis.version: None dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnLENOVO:bvrN1MET35W(1.20):bd05/17/2017:svnLENOVO:pn20HR002RGE:pvrThinkPadX1Carbon5th:rvnLENOVO:rn20HR002RGE:rvrSDK0J40697WIN:cvnLENOVO:ct10:cvrNone: dmi.product.family: ThinkPad X1 Carbon 5th dmi.product.name: 20HR002RGE dmi.product.version: ThinkPad X1 Carbon 5th dmi.sys.vendor: LENOVO version.compiz: compiz 1:0.9.13.1+18.04.20180302-0ubuntu1 version.libdrm2: libdrm2 2.4.91-2 version.libgl1-mesa-dri: libgl1-mesa-dri 18.0.5-0ubuntu0~18.04.1 version.libgl1-mesa-glx: libgl1-mesa-glx 18.0.5-0ubuntu0~18.04.1 version.xserver-xorg-core: xserver-xorg-core 2:1.19.6-1ubuntu4 version.xserver-xorg-input-evdev: xserver-xorg-input-evdev N/A version.xserver-xorg-video-ati: xserver-xorg-video-ati 1:18.0.1-1 version.xserver-xorg-video-intel: xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.99.917+git20171229-1 version.xserver-xorg-video-nouveau: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau 1:1.0.15-2 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/1788598/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages Post to : desktop-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
