I guess the bug is simular in the fact that changing the settings in defaulta applications does not change the settings for default application to open certain mimetype. If this is the case in bug #876897 then these are duplicate bugs, just with different mimetypes. Thanks for fast response.

Eg. I used to have banshee as my default music player, but now I want to use the Movie player to play music. I change the settings in my system settings but still banshee opens every time I try to open a music file. Same applies for movies, which used to be played in Movie player, but should now open in VLC. They still opens in Movie Player though ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 11.10 Package: gnome-control-center 1:3.2.2-0ubuntu1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.0.0-13.22-generic 3.0.6 Uname: Linux 3.0.0-13-generic i686 ApportVersion: 1.23-0ubuntu4 Architecture: i386 Date: Tue Dec 6 21:17:50 2011 ExecutablePath: /usr/bin/gnome-control-center InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 11.04 "Natty Narwhal" - Beta i386 (20110413) SourcePackage: gnome-control-center UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to oneiric on 2011-10-13 (53 days ago) usr_lib_gnome-control-center: deja-dup 20.1-0ubuntu0.2 gnome-bluetooth 3.2.0-0ubuntu2 indicator-datetime 0.3.1-0ubuntu1 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control-center/+bug/900908/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages Post to : desktop-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
