speakers had worked before with 14.04 but suddenly they do not
  anymore)

Status in alsa-driver package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
I do not know which update has caused the problem. The speakers had

  anymore.

  Headphones work correctly.

I have a Thinkpad S531 Laptop which is certified to work with Ubuntu.

  Thanks!
