Title:
firefox experiences heavy pixelation, stuttering screens and black
  boxes around windows

Status in firefox package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
I've previously reported this bug for Ubuntu 17.10 and firefox and
even thunderbird are still doing what they did during the development
and eventual release of 17.10. this is annoying. It still creates the
heavy pixelation, scrambling, juttery screens when opening and during
times when i'm resizing windows and/or have other windows open that
come from firefox such as download dialogue window that the operating
system is presenting me with options about my downloads (open or save
options) i get this quick, black box to form around the window and
disappear when I click certain option boxes in those windows. I've
tried this with Chromium and nothing ever happens with that browser
and I've had other system windows open such as my file manager program
and some other programs running and tried everything to create the
effects i see and nothing. it only comes from mozilla products
(firefox and thunderbird). and even the tor version of firefox has the
odd black box around it when i resize it as well. it all seems to be
just focused on firefox, thunderbird and the tor firefox browser.
