Title:
Ubuntu 17.10: Cannot use shelltile extension in Ubuntu Session while
it works fine in Gnome Session

Status in gnome-shell package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
On Ubuntu 17.10 with artful-proposed enabled, I cannot use the
shelltile extension in Ubuntu session. If you see the screenshot, it
seems like both shelltile and gnome's built in tile feature work at
the same time and the gnome's one is preferred (enabling shelltile
from gnome-tweak should disable the built in functionality). However,
shelltile works properly on Gnome session.

I don't know if I should file this bug against gnome-shell or gnome-
session (if I've understood correctly ubuntu-session is a sub package
  of gnome-session).
