It's an error to [try to] rename standard folders because there may exist references to their files. That is why xdg-user-dirs does not rename nonempty folders. But this is indeed inconvenient and there is a solution that is not. The correct solution is to create symbolic links as explained in https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=32342 https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xdg-user-dirs/+bug/556933 In consequence, I have made the incorrect bugs duplicates of these.

When changed the language back to english and restared the folders didn't change back to english names.
