I'm also having an issue with my ux391ua running MATE18.04 with no
Windows 10 installed. There is sound output audible with headphones on
and volume >100% but it is very distorted and crackly. 18.10 was not
helpful and updating kerenel to 19 doesn't change anything.

I've tried various mixer related avenues which do nothing. I noticed
that pavucontrol shows sound btw.
