The preferences window should allow the user to select the panes he wants to be visible. The options would be: Artist, Album, and Genre. Yes, I know we can use the genre: tag in the search field, but this option is in other players (Rhythmbox, iTunes and Songbird come to mind) and is very useful for creating "on-the-fly" playlist (when a user wants to hear to all the songs in a particular genre). Also, artist and album are not enough when the music library goes beyond a few hundreds of songs, and I'm pretty sure that several users fall in this category. https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=538005 This bug has already been treated there, and even a patch has been developed, then there is no reason why this is not implemented already. Included is a (not so good) mockup of what I'm talking about.
