Same thing happens for me. Ubuntu 18.04 on Wayland. It also happens with
the Vscode snap.

Title:
18.10 Wayland session closes when using Slack and possibly other
  Electron snap app

Status in snapd:

Status in gnome-shell package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
  Hello,
it seems that whenever I launch Slack snap app (doesn't apply to the Debian
packaged app) under Wayland the whole desktop crashes - applies to Ubuntu 18.10
- updated to on 30 September 2018.

To reproduce this, launch Slack snap app (or possibly any other
Electron snap app, not sure about that though) under Wayland and after
a moment the whole desktop crashes => user re-appears on the login
  screen.

If launched under X11 Slack launches normally.

I've already reported this to the Slack team themselves in April 2018
but soon after that wrote another message informing about this being
fixed - possibly close to the final release of 18.04. Now on Ubuntu
18.10 this has reappeared again. However, it may possibly be broken
under 18.04 as well now - I haven't tested it for a while.

  Best regards,
  Martin
