--------------- gnome-initial-setup (3.28.0-2ubuntu6.16.04.4) bionic; urgency=medium * debian/patches/0001-Add-Ubuntu-mode-with-special-pages.patch: - rework the patch from the previous upload to change the right reference this time (lp: #1789925) [ Andrea Azzarone ] * debian/patches/0001-Add-Ubuntu-mode-with-special-pages.patch: - Show an error message in case livepatch setup fails. This also will make sure that gnome-intial-setup does not quit before livepatch responds back (LP: #1764723). -- Sebastien Bacher <seb...@ubuntu.com> Wed, 31 Oct 2018 13:01:07 +0100 ** Changed in: gnome-initial-setup (Ubuntu Bionic) Status: Fix Committed => Fix Released -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-initial-setup in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1764723 Title: gnome-initial-setup says that Livepatch is "all set" even if enabling is still in progress. Status in gnome-initial-setup package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in gnome-initial-setup source package in Bionic: Fix Released Bug description: * Impact - Livepatch can fail to install and the user will never be notified about the error. * Test case - Install ubuntu 18.04 - Wait for the wizard to be displayed - Activate livepatch in the livepatch page - Disconnect the system from the internet -> After a while an error message dialog should be displayed * Regression potential Gnome-initial-setup fails to properly close (make sure that after a while the process is no longer running). * Original bug In Livepatch page we show the message "You're all set: Livepatch is now on" even if this is not true. Enabling livepatch requires several time-steps (e.g. installing the snap, getting the token, etc) that can fail at any time. We should update the message and show a notification in case of failure.
