Keith R Bark, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu
better. However, according to this report, you are not using the most
recent version of this package for your Ubuntu release. Please upgrade
to the most recent version (3.3.4) and let us know if you are still
having this issue. As well, could you please attach a document that when
you print it, demonstrates this problem? Thanks in advance.

  problem with duplex printing from libreoffice

Status in “libreoffice” package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
  Duplex printiong to Brother HL-4040 always flips the page on the short
  edge and never on the long edge.  Printing from other applications eg
  Acrobat is fine.  There was no problem with OO.
