The second character '[' appears to overlap the the previous character a little and is cutoff by the next character. When you hit Esc to return to command mode and move the cursor, the same characters are displayed but they will not be highlighted. This also occurs when scrolling, and typing in insert mode. Details: These characters are not in the vim buffer, and will usually disappear if you resize the window. Highlighting the characters that appear highlighted inverts the colors (on my grey on black screen they become white on black) Highlighting the non-highlighted characters appears normal. Changing the 'text' color in profiles affects all characters, and no other palette changes affect any characters.
