This feature is absent in 18.04 Gnome's gnome-control-center network panel. Lack of the feature means the dns-search variable is unset which also causes /etc/resolv.conf to leave the search to be unset. This is unacceptable in a assigned IP address Enterprise environment. One workaround is to manually edit the NetworkManager system- connections file after its creation to set the variable.
