Installing the extension disables the normal English dictionary on OO.o 3.0 on Ubuntu 8.10 64-bit from https://launchpad.net/~openoffice- pkgs/+archive/ppa . Once the package is installed and OO.o is restarted, all normal English words are marked as misspelled. Only medical jargon like "reticulocyte" is considered spelled correctly. Uninstalling the plugin fixes the problem. I've contacted the plugin author, and he told me that this is not the case in WinXP. I am not able to check in Jaunty since my VirtualBox network connection is not working (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/326003) Is there any additional info you might need or any suggestions you can recommend?
