Upstream bug #513508 was closed "RESOLVED OBSOLETE" on 2018-01-02
as from version 3.28 nautilus no longer handles files on desktop.

Papercuts task did not expire due to bug watch so closing now.

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: file-roller

  When extracting something to the desktop from file-roller using drag'n'drop, 
the item is not placed where the mouse cursor was when the mouse button is 
raised but at a random spot.
  This is happening for me on hardy.
